Fabio

Fabio is a 20-year-old miniature Shetland pony with a powerful story of survival and second chances.

Five years ago, Fabio was just 16 hours away from being shipped to slaughter at a kill pen in Arkansas. In the final moments before he was loaded onto the trailer, a compassionate woman saw his photo shared by a rescue group online.

She acted fast, paid his bail, and had him transported all the way to Yucaipa, California.

There, Fabio received the care he so desperately needed—grooming, regular hoof trims, proper nutrition, and above all, love. After about a year of healing and regaining his strength, she sent him to us here at M0bius Garden, where he found his forever home.

Now, Fabio spends his days playing with his friends and being part of our original herd, affectionately known as “The Three Musketeers”—Sassy, Cai Boy, and the fabulous Fabio. He’s the heart of our sanctuary and one of the reasons it all began.

We don’t know the full story of his past or what he endured, but we do know that today, he’s treated like the prince he is. :crown: He leads the herd with grace (and a bit of sass!) and always earns the vet’s golden star.

Miniature ponies sometimes get a bad rap, but Fabio is truly one of the kindest, sweetest, most well-mannered little souls we’ve ever met. We can’t imagine life without him—he’s a blessing to all of us here.

Recently, we’ve noticed he’s not shedding properly and his coat seems a bit too plush for summer—possible signs of Cushing’s disease. We’ll be getting his bloodwork done soon and are hoping for good news.

Thank you for being part of Fabio’s journey. He reminds us every day why rescue work matters.
